File Set Up Guide for Fine Art and Photographic Printing
We
can produce very high quality fine art and photographic prints direct from your
digital image files.
We can also print from Postscript and EPS files and support the following software applications: Photoshop, QuarkXpress, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat PDF. To ensure proper output, all fonts and support graphics must be supplied.
Colour
Mode - Image files should be saved as RGB TIFF or JPEGs for photographic
prints. Photoshop users should include an ICC input profile and select
sRGB or Adobe RGB (1998) as the working colour space. RGB is a larger colour
space than CMYK so more colours can be rendered.
Resolution and Size Guidelines
For best results, your image files should contain 180-360 ppi of un-interpolated
resolution at final print size. Your file must be at final print size when
it is received.
Scanning - your scans need to be large enough for the purpose. Although prints can be made from smaller files, the lack of digital information present will give a less satisfactory and soft result. The ideal would be to create a scan to the output size you want, at 300 dpi. Using JPEG compression will save on file size, particularly when sending files by E-mail.
Sending your files - Choose from the following options to send your files to Redcliffe:
Send
your files direct to Redcliffe's FTP Server
e-mail
to fineartphoto@redcliffe.co.uk
post
your CD to Redcliffe Imaging, 21 Dragon Court, Crofts End Road,
Bristol BS5 7XX.
Other Origination - we can also work from your original artwork, but this will require a rostrum scan, for which we charge £75. We can also scan your photographs, negatives or transparencies, for which we charge £25. All scans will be supplied back to you on CD.
Quality Assured - We aim to produce very high quality photographic, fine art and canvas prints and put a lot of care and attention into achieving the result that we hope you will be delighted with. On most print orders we will optimise your image for colour and density and there is no additional charge for this service.
However, if you would like to check how your print will look and make changes to the colour and density of the final print then we recommend that you have an A4 proof made on your chosen media.
Set up charges:
Photo print work - A4 proof from uploaded file or scan file £12.50
Canvas print work - A4 proof from uploaded file or scan file £25.00
Fine art print work - A4 proof from uploaded file or scan file £25.00
When
you approve the proof, the final print(s) will be made and your job will
be archived at Redcliffe should you wish to order further prints in the future.
Once your job has been archived, then any further prints you may order will always match your previous print order.
Dispatch - All finished print work will be dispatched in a strong cardboard tube. Canvas prints on stretchers will be packed in bubble wrap and a strong cardboard box. Delivery will be made by First Class Post, Royal Mail Special Delivery or UPS for next day delivery.
