Certificate of Authenticity
A great way to market your high quality, limited edition, giclée print is to offer a certificate of authenticity. It is an excellent selling point as it assures the buyer, and any future buyer, that they can verify the authenticity of the giclée print.
The certificate can be signed by both the artist and printmaker and contains information on the artist, the title of the work, the media used and the number and date of the limited edition.
There are two options to choose from when considering a certificate of authenticity, one low cost option from Redcliffe Imaging and a more secure, but expensive hologram system from Hahnemühle.
Redcliffe Certificate of Authenticity
Redcliffe can provide you with an embossed certificate of authenticity to help you market your limited edition giclée print.
The certificate states: "This numbered edition printed on (premium paper) is from an authentic single limited publication. It is produced using a giclée printer with a LUCIA 12-colour pigment ink system and is approved signed and numbered by the artist. To ensure the integrity of the edition, all original files have been securely deleted and extra-copies were destroyed on completion. The artist and printmaker hereby affirm the authenticity of this limited edition with this certificate".
Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity and Hologram System
The Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity is designed to protect the security and genuineness of your limited edition art works and reproductions on Hahnemühle paper and to reduce the risk of forgery.

Each certificate is made of premium deckle edged mould made paper with a Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security fibres. A serialised numbered hologram is added to the certificate and a second, identically numbered hologram is then applied to the reverse side of the artwork. |

Any later attempt to remove this hologram will destroy the serial number and leave a tell-tale mark on the back of the print. The combination of certificate and hologram assures that each Certificate of Authenticity relates to just one particular piece of art.
Central Certificates of Authenticity Registry
To complete the authentication process, the artist or printmaker can log onto www.myartregistry.com and access the Central Certificates of Authenticity Registry. This is a free service offered by the Hahnemühle FineArt Company to the global digital printing community as a means to publicly register the authenticity of their work.
The registry can be used not only for sold works, but also those that await sale. Visitors to the registry will be able to contact you directly via blind email and return contact with visitors to the registry is totally at your discretion. The registry not only becomes a venue for your authentic registration, but it also becomes a valuable sales tool to you and a prestigious point of reference.
Please note that the Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity is only available for limited edition art work printed on Hahnemühle paper stock.
