Creative Photography and Commerce Lectures and Portfolio Reviews
The RPS has brought together the best in the business to give a series of lectures and portfolio reviews. The lectures are open to anyone with an interest in photography, while portfolio reviews are for students and photographers aged 35 and under.
The lectures will examine the relationship between personal work and commercial practice, through the eyes of some of the most progressive individuals in the field.
Lecturers include Chris Floyd, Rhea Thierstein, Olivia Gideon Thomson, Laura Pannack, Kate Peters and Toby Smith who will be discussing their work in the photographic industry and how the marriage of creativity and commerce works for them.
Portfolio Reviewersinclude Thom Atkinson, Angus Fraser, Anthony Holland Parkin from Getty Images, Clare Hewitt, Ashley Jouhar Group Creative Director of Image Source, Steve Ledger-Lomas, Ben Roberts, The Guardian’s Roger Tooth, and Zoe Whishaw.

Royal Photographic Society Funding

The Royal Photographic Society is very pleased to announce a major new initiative in offering a number of different funding schemes for the benefit of image makers. They are available to members and non-members of the Society.
Environmental Awareness Project Funding £6,000
The Royal Photographic Society in partnership with The Photographic Angle is offering two 1- year bursaries to support a photographic project that will promote environmental awareness. The bursaries will provide £3,000 each to assist with travel expenses, photographic equipment and other projectrelated costs. The two awards are available for applicants aged between 16-25 and 26 years and over.
Postgraduate Bursary £3,500
To support postgraduate students undertaking photographic research or studying Masters courses in Photography.
Joan Wakelin Bursary £2,000
The Joan Wakelin Bursary offers photographers £2,000 and the chance to have their work published in the Guardian and the RPS Journal. The Bursary, administered by the Guardian and The Royal Photographic Society, is awarded to the photographer who presents the best proposal for a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue. Submission is open to all, with no restriction on age or qualification.
RPS Society Events Bursary Various
Applications can be made all year round. Theses bursaries are to enable young photographers to attend selected Society Regional and Group events that they would not normally be able to afford. These Young Student Bursaries are only open to bids from Society Regional and Group Organisers.

The RPS is please to announce a new short film bursary due to be available later in 2013.

A Showcase for Artist Portfolios and Websites

Hahnemühle FineArt have relaunched the website ‘myartregistry.com'. It offers photographers and artists the opportunity to document the genuineness of their works of art.
