The Royal Photographic Society is an Educational Charity promoting both the art and science of photography. Membership is open to everyone interested in photography: be they amateur or professional, artist or scientist, young or old. As well as becoming a member of The Society itself, many members also join one or more specialist groups which concentrate more closely upon their chosen interests within the medium: from digital imaging to fine printing, nature photography to contemporary practice, pictorialism to imaging science, the moving image and many more.

Photography Workshops
The Society now has a purpose built lecture theatre and education suite fitted out with equipment and software for digital imaging. This enables The Society to deliver a programme of practical educational courses and events for members and non-members throughout the year. The Royal Photographic Society is well respected for its outstanding achievement in education. Although the majority of its work focuses on supporting and organising practical workshops/lectures it also organises community projects and work in schools and colleges. The Society plans to continue with its investment into formal and informal education using its wealth of resources from its historical roots including the 250,000 images and artefacts from its world famous Collection now housed at the National Media Museum in Bradford.
