Ray Cooper ARPS
I am a self-taught photographer currently based in the coastal region of North Northumberland in the UK. I have travelled extensively living and working abroad in the role of an international investigator since 2003. I returned to the UK at the end of 2010 to my home in Northumberland enabling me to put more effort into my passion for photographing people, places and nature.

Ray was born in Jarrow on Tyne in 1951 and moved to London at the age of 16 to make a career out of the Metropolitan Police. He retired from the service in 2000 after a period of War Crimes Investigation for the United Nations in Kosovo and moved from London to North Northumberland.
In 2003 he returned to Kosovo as a UN Police Investigator and since then has taken on subsequent roles as a War Crimes/Genocide and Homicide investigator in Rwanda, Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Gaza and finally in Trinidad and Tobago.
He has had a lifetime love of photography and for the last 5 years he has been developing his skills in several photographic genres. He has recently been awarded his second distinction, an Associateship, by the Royal Photographic Society and in November was awarded the PSA Gold Medal for the best overall contribution to the RPS 2011 International Projected Image Exhibition. The images featured in this award were in the Natural World Category and showed Hummingbirds in the rainforests of Trinidad and Tobago.
