Rick Standing

Rick sources his imagery from a spinning light sculpture he developed at University in 1997. He became interested in the fluid dynamics of light travelling and being able to photograph these moments in frozen time.

Single shoots show the spinning disks at various frequencies depending on their speed of travel. Composites are arranged as galactic landscapes in the series Spin8.1. Most recently in the Alpha series, Rick presents and investigates pure colour composites in rectangular formats.
