Digital Image File Formats
Colour Mode - Image files should be saved as RGB TIFF or JPGs for
photographic prints. Photoshop users should include an ICC input profile
and select sRGB or Adobe RGB (1998) as the working colour space. RGB
is a larger colour space than CMYK so more colours can be rendered.
- TIFF - Tagged Image File Format, uncompressed and compressed formats
- JPG - Joint Photographic Experts Group, compressed format
- PNG - Portable Network Graphics, lossless compression
PNG may be of interest, because it's lossless compression is well suited for master copy data, and because PNG is a noticeably smaller file than LZW TIFF. At no extra charge, you can request your prints be supplied with a white border.
